Essential GeoGear

Here are some of the items that are great to bring along on all your caching adventures...
NOTE: Product links don't display on certain browsers - try to use either Google Chrome or Safari when viewing this page. :)

Backpack

A back pack is essential, after all you need somewhere to carry all your geocaching equipment, food supplies and water!

Flashlight

Flashlights are not only necesary for night caches, they also are great in the day time too, for lighting up dark nooks and crannies.

Pen

Of course, you need one of these to sign the log once you find the cache! It's amazing how many people lose their pen, forget it, or bring one which doesn't work! So it's a good idea to bring a couple of spares with you, or buy now with a carabiner clip which can attach easily onto your rucksack, so it's harder to lose!

Swag

Bring some tradable items along everywhere you go caching, just in case you find something worth exchanging!

Extendable Mirror

A good addition to your cache bag to look round the back of drainpipes, or under benches with ease.

Extendable Magnet

Great for reaching those evil magnetic micros which can be placed in hard to reach locations. Also a common tool needed for TOTT caches (see 'The Lingo' page)

Headlamp

Frees up your hands so you can rummage around to find those caches at night.

UV Light

Essential for the night caches that have UV only reflectors.

Tweezers

Really useful to bring along, otherwise it can be virtually impossible to get out those micro logs, especially when they're damp!

Hiking Stick

Not only do these help you with those challenging terrain caches, they're also great for poking around to find the cache, with out bending over or using your hands.

A log roller

Saves you buckets of time re-rolling fidgety micro logs.

Spare Batteries

Not only useful for replacing dead batteries in your GPS, but you never know when you'll come across a battery activated cache.

Camera

Snap, save and share your special caching experiences. Whether on your mobile phone or on a digital camera, always bring along something to take those pics.

GPS

Very hard to go caching without one of these! Check out our Guide to Buying a GPS.

Water & Trail mix

Goes without saying that you should always have water and a bite to eat along with you - make sure your prepared for the worst!

Hand Sanitizer

After handling loads of dirty tupperware, it sure is a good idea to clean your hands before having a snack!

Gloves

Great for rummaging around in prickly bushes or exploring areas where your not sure what's lurking there!

Mosquito repellent

It's easy to find yourself in an area surrounded by these pesky creatures! Be prepared and take repellent and bite cream along with you.

Whistle

An essential safety device, that uses a lot less energy than shouting for help!
